Programs

YJI has developed three major program areas that seek to provide intervention services to youth, as well as to positively affect the juvenile justice system. The programs are gender responsive and culturally aware. The learned information is used to help establish best practices, develop policies and procedures, and direct training and technical assistance for a number of jurisdictions. Each area has been developed using the 2003 YJI Gender Competency Model, which requires four areas to be incorporated into programs: safety, positive relationships, competencies, and leadership opportunities. To ensure we offer the highest quality program to our clients, we prioritize:

  • Hiring competent, qualified staff
  • Offering opportunities for continued and advanced education
  • Providing initial and ongoing training
  • Developing meaningful tools for evaluation and feedback
  • Re-evaluating and adapting our program to be effective and appropriate
